1. Because of the icy weather conditions, Montgomery County schools are closed today, and many offices are opening late. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 10 a.m. today, and a Flood Watch is in effect until 11 p.m. tonight.

2. Cava Grill is scheduled to open its newest location in Silver Spring today, and you are invited to the Community Day celebration.

3. The Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council meet tonight at City Hall. On the agenda: an update about the city’s 2016 legislative priorities, a public hearing on affordable housing, information about an online survey about parks and recreation and culture, the latest on the city’s planning retreat, and more.

4. Author Azar Nafisi headlines the Montgomery College speaker series tonight in Germantown. The lecture topic is “Literature’s Place in a Free and Enlightened Society.”

5. The Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board meets tonight at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, and the Westbard Sector Plan may be one of the hot topics that is discussed.
