Five Things to Know Today, Feb. 10, in Montgomery County
Here are five things to know today, Feb. 10, in Montgomery County:
1. Talk of the Town: It may be two more years until a rusty bridge over Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg is repainted, and there have been questions about who’s responsible and what’s taking so long.
2. Street Beat: If you are commuting in Silver Spring this weekend, be advised that a portion of Colesville Road will be closed because of a crane operation.
3. Church Protest: Members of Macedonia Baptist Church plan to protest the Westbard redevelopment Sunday in Bethesda because they believe it encroaches on an African-American cemetery.
4. Author Talk: Montgomery County native and bestselling author Tim Kurkjian will speak at Montgomery College’s Rockville campus at 1 p.m. today. The lecture will be held in the Theatre Arts Arena, and it is free and open to the public. Kurkjian’s new book, I’m Fascinated by Sacrifice Flies, will be available for purchase and signing.
