fivethingsyouneedtoknow1. Silver Spring Innovation Center: Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett and Councilmember Hans Riemer to announce the launch of “ultraGig” – a wireless fiber initiative at the Silver Spring Innovation Center today at 10 a.m. at the Silver Spring Innovation Center.

2. Hero Dog Service: See a real service dog in action showing off its skills and learning about animal behavior at the Damascus Library.

3. Name Your Street: The City of Rockville asked residents to send suggestions for a name of a new street, and the Planning Commission is scheduled to meet today to decide on the new name.

4. Immunization Requirements: All seventh- and eighth-grade MCPS students must receive vaccinations against tetanus and meningitis no later than Monday, Aug. 31.

5. Strathmore Free Outdoor Concert: Grammy nominee Cheick Hamala Diabate and band will play a tribute to cultures and traditions of Africa at Strathmore in North Bethesda. The concert is free and begins at 7 p.m.
