1. FINA World Championships: Katie Ledecky sets a new world record for the 1500 freestyle at FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

2. National Night Out Against Crime: Law enforcement officials invite the community to participate at the annual National Night Out, held each year on the first Tuesday of August. This event is designed to generate neighborhood support and participation in crime prevention efforts.

3. Farmer’s Market Week: The Maryland Department of Agriculture encourages citizens to celebrate the week by visiting farmers’ market and buying local products. To find out more about farmers’ markets in Montgomery County, click here.

4. No Smoking and New Dog Rules for Gaithersburg Parks: Smoking is now prohibited within a 25 foot radius of playgrounds, and the dog exercise area at Green Park will only be available to city residents with licensed dogs.

5. Zumba on The Plaza: Washington Sports Club will host free Tuesday Zumba classes at 7 p.m. on the Fountain Plaza.
