1. PSC Hearing: The Maryland Public Service Commission wants to know what you think of Pepco’s proposed rate hike that would increase the average customer’s bill by $7.37 per month. A public hearing takes place tonight, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Council Office Building in Rockville.

2. College Life: Montgomery College President DeRionne Pollard is welcoming new and returning students to campus this week, and she says the fall semester is her favorite time of the year. Montgomery College was recently ranked the number nine two-year college for adult learners by Washington Monthly.

3. Smart Start: Donations are being accepted thru noon Thursday to make sure every child has a backpack filled with school supplies when school starts next week in Montgomery County. Find out where you can drop off your donations here. The backpacks will be distributed tomorrow night under the pavilion at the Silver Spring Civic Center.

4. Live from the Lawn: Soul singer and DC native Akua Allrich headlines the summer concert at 7 p.m. at Strathmore. No tickets are needed.

5. Spirit Season: The Washington Spirit hosts the North Carolina Courage at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
