1.Purple Line Groundbreaking: Governor Larry Hogan and U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao will participate in a ceremonial groundbreaking for the light-rail transit line in Hyattsville at 10 a.m. as reported by Bethesda Beat.
2.Bethesda Blast: The next controlled blast for the BRAC-related Crossing Project at the Medical Center Metro Station in Bethesda is currently scheduled to occur between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. There will be a single explosive blast. Alarm horns will sound five minutes before the blast and traffic will be halted on Rockville Pike between Jones Bridge Road and South Wood Drive (Navy Gate #2) for about 10 minutes.
3.Book Discussion: A discussion of Rachel Joyce’s novel, The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy, about how small moments can change a person’s life takes place at Damascus Library at 7:30 p.m.
4.Tennis Anyone? The Wheaton Indoor Tennis Center opens today after being closed for maintenance from Aug. 21 – 27. Check out the line-up of fall classes, here.
