Five Things to Know Today, Aug. 24, in Montgomery County

Here are five things to know today, Aug. 24, in Montgomery County:

1. Immunization Clinics for Tdap and/or MCV: Walk in clinics for students entering 7, 8, 9 and 10th grade in need of required Tdap and/or MCV vaccinations will be given out free at the Germantown Health Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Emergency Preparedness Committee Meeting: The City of Takoma Park’s Emergency Preparedness Committee will hold its monthly meeting from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

3. International Poetry Festival: House of Culture El Salvador will host an international poetry festival in Silver Spring from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

4. Summer Concerts at Glen Echo Park: The U.S. Marine Band Dixieland Ensemble will be performing at 7:30 p.m.at the Bumper Car Pavilion in Glen Echo Park.  Concerts are free.

5. Ride On’s ExtRa Bus- There’s a new bus service in the county that will help alleviate traffic congestion on what Montgomery County leaders call one of the county’s busiest corridors. Here’s the full story:
