Here are five things to know today, April 5, in Montgomery County:

1. The Montgomery County Council holds public hearings on fiscal 2018 budgets at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Third Floor Hearing Room.

2. The fourth annual Montgomery County Energy Summit starts at 8 a.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building. This all-day event is focused on commercial energy efficiency in the County. Cost $25 to $35.

3. Tickets are available for the 2017 Quicken Loans National to be played at TPC Potomac on June 29-July 2 for the first time in the event’s 11-year history. Tickets start at $15 and are set to increase on April 21.

4. The Rockville Bicycle Advisory Committee meets at 7 p.m. in Rockville City Hall. The committee meets on the first Wednesday of every month to discuss items related to bicycling in Rockville.

5. The Montgomery Coalition for Adult English Literacy holds its “Grown-Up Spelling Bee” at the Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center on the Takoma Park campus. The spelling begins at 6:30 p.m.
