Here are five things to know today, April 4, in Montgomery County:

1. The County Council meets at 9:30 a.m. Public hearings scheduled for the afternoon include funding for security upgrades at Jewish community centers. The council members also will receive their semi-annual report from the Planning Board.

2. The Wheaton/Glenmont Pool will be renamed at 5 p.m. in honor of fallen officer Sgt. Hector Ayala. The pool is at 3201 Randolph Road, Wheaton. Ayala was 31 years old when he was killed in the line of duty on April 4, 2010.

3. Friends of White Flint meet at 7 p.m. at AMP by Strathmore. An update on White Flint 2 is on the agenda, as well as an update on Pike District transportation projects.

4. Catherine Hoggle, the mother of two missing children, was in court Monday. The court received a report on her competency. She’ll appear in court again on July 6.
