1. First Day of Fall: The season starts at 4:02 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

2. Filing deadline for Gaithersburg candidates: Gaithersburg voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 7 to elect a Mayor and two City Council Members. The deadline for candidates to file for this election is 5 p.m today.

3. Car Free Day: The event, celebrated worldwide, encourages people to find greener methods of traveling versus driving in a car solo.

4. New Skate Park Open House: Plans for a new, 15,000-square-foot concrete skate park, to replace the one at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center, are up for discussion at an open house from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

5. Improv Comedy Opener:  Improv Comedy Night returns to Highwood Theatre.
