Five Things to Know for Sept. 12 in Montgomery County

Here are five things you need to know today, Wednesday, Sept. 12, in Montgomery County:

1. Hurricane Florence: The National Hurricane Center said that Hurricane Florence, packing 130 mph winds, was getting more organized and increasing in size. Gov. Larry Hogan has declared a State of Emergency.

2. Speaking of Hurricane Florence:

3. Job Fair: The ALDI grocery store chain will hold a job fair from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at each of its Montgomery County locations, including stores in Gaithersburg, Germantown, Rockville, Silver Spring and Takoma Park.

4. Outdoor Art Lab: Join VisArts every Wednesday for a hands-on outdoor art lab that will inspire the artist in you. VisArts will provide instructors, art assistants and all art materials for these free events. No reservations are required.

5. Visualize 2045: The Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments will host three open houses for people in the region to learn about Visualize 2045: a long-range transportation plan for the National Capital Region.
