Five Things to Know for Oct. 17 in Montgomery County

Here are five things to know today, Oct. 17, in Montgomery County, Maryland:

1. Voting Residency Deadline-Takoma Park residency must be met today (21 days prior to the election) in order to vote in the upcoming election.

2. Council Session-  Clean energy usage; gun violence; and the WGL Holdings and AltaGas merger are expected to be discussed during today’s Montgomery County Council meeting.

3. Plan Goals? The Montgomery County Planning Department is inviting residents and business owners to discuss future plans for the Forest Glen and Montgomery Hills neighborhoods.

4. Startup Pitch Bus : Join the Energetics Technology Center in White Oak for an opportunity to pitch on the Startup Maryland Pitch Bus. Learn about technology transfer, licensing, and other collaborative opportunities at local federal laboratories. Pitch coaching will be available for interested entrepreneurs.

5. Combating Gangs: Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy is expected to introduce his new gang unit and sign an Memo of Understanding with Montgomery County Public Schools at 2:30 PM in the lobby of Circuit Court.
