Five Things to Know for June 9 in Montgomery County

Here are five things to know today, June 9, in Montgomery County:

1. It was EPIC: MCM celebrated all forms of community media Thursday night at a gala at the Fillmore in Silver Spring. Read about it in our blog.

2.  Peddling pedaling: Capital Bikeshare holds its Start of Summer event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Bikeshare Station at the Executive Office Building traffic circle. People can find out how to use the kiosk, return a bike and all the necessary techniques to use the bicycles safely.

3. Commencements continue: Montgomery County’s Alternative Education Programs holds its graduation at 10 a.m. at the Rockville Civic Center. Longview School, Germantown, will hold its graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. at the school. Northwood High School, Silver Spring, will graduate the Class of 2017 at 10 a.m. at DAR Constitution Hall. Rock Terrace School, Rockville, hold its graduation ceremony at 10 a.m.

4. It’s getting hotter: Expect partly cloudy skies today and tomorrow as the temperatures climb. Sunday is supposed to be clear and in the 90s.
