Here are five things to know today, June 21, in Montgomery County:
1. Summer: It’s the first day of summer and Montgomery Recreation has opening for camps. And its pools are open till 8 p.m.
2. Coffee with a Cop: The event starts at 9:30 a.m. at Peet’s Coffee & Tea at Old Georgetown Road and Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda. The programs offers a chance to interact with officers in a casual setting.
3. Foster Parents Picnic: Montgomery County is hosting a picnic for foster parents and their families at High Point Farm & Catering, 23730 Frederick Road, Clarksburg. The event runs from 2 p.m. to dusk.
4. Metro Safety: The Transportation Planning Board gets a briefing on Metro safety and reliability, as well as a regional strategy to secure Metro funding. The meetings starts at noon at the Walter A. Scheiber Board Room, 777 N. Capitol St. NE, Suite 300, Washington.
