Here are five things to know today, July 3, in Montgomery County:

1. Rockets Red Glare: In the mood for some fireworks? MyMCMedia has the skinny on where the skies will be ablaze.

2. Applicants Sought: The Montgomery County Commission for Women is looking to fill six vacancies. The deadline for applying is July 7. The primary responsibility of the 15-member Commission is to advise residents, the county executive, the County Council and government agencies on the issues of concern to women.

3. Citizenship Prep: Baltimore City Community Colllege is offering citizenship preparation classes at Gilchrist Center sites in the county beginning July 6 in Silver Spring. Classes start in other Montgomery County communities later in the month. See this flier.

4. Recycling Pickup: Monday’s recycling pickup will be Monday, according to the county.

5. Grand Finale: Classical Movements’ Serenade! Choral Festival is an international choir celebration that offers an unforgettable experience for singers and audiences alike. Presented free to the public, Serenade! has showcased more than 50 choirs from 25 countries. The festival continues at 6 p.m. at the Kennedy Center and with a performance also on July 4.
