Five Things to Know for Dec. 11 in Montgomery County

Here are five things to know for Monday, Dec. 11, in Montgomery County:

1. Flags at Half-Staff: Governor Hogan has ordered that Maryland flags be lowered to half-staff to honor Deputy Chief Fire Marshal Sander Cohen, who died in the line of duty on Dec. 8.

2. Media Brief:  Montgomery County Council President, Hans Riemer, will hold his first media briefing with the press as president of the county council.


3. Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board Meeting: The Board is expected to host a dialogue with the Maryland State Delegations from Districts 18 and 20 to learn about the priorities state legislators will be taking to the next State session.

4. Gang Prevention Strategies: The Montgomery County Council’s Public Safety and Health and Human Sercives committees will discuss gang prevention strategies during today’s meeting.

5. Winter Guide: Registration is open for the Department of Recreation’s winter classes, programs, and activities.
