2. NIH Children’s Inn Update: A structural crack in the Inn’s roof was discovered Aug. 21, forcing the Inn to be evacuated. Bethesda Beat reports that a portion of the Inn reopened Friday.

3. Veteran Center Intake & Referral Services: Veterans and active duty Service members may register for Veteran Center services at the Gaithersburg Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 301-589-1073 for more information.

4. Labor Day Parades: The 80th Annual Gaithersburg Parade takes place Monday, Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. in the Olde Towne section of the city. The 51st Annual Kensington Parade and Festival begins Monday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Park. The Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

5 . Save the Date(s): The fourth annual Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week runs from Tuesday, Sept. 4 through Sunday, Sept. 9. More than two dozen restaurants in Silver Spring and Takoma Park will offer special multi-course lunch and dinner fixed-price menus.
