Here is the rundown of five things to know today, Monday, Feb. 5, in Montgomery County:

1. Council Action: Montgomery County Council committees are meeting today. Among the top items are a discussion about how state lawmakers are responding to federal tax law changes, at 12:30 p.m. Then at 2 p.m., the Education Committee will consider Montgomery County Public Schools’ changing enrollment and demographics. Both meetings will be in the Council Office Building.

2. Meet the Media: Council President Hans Riemer is scheduled to hold his regular meeting with local media at 11:30 a.m.

3. Grants Meeting: The Takoma Park Grants Review Committee meets at 2 p.m., for an information session about STEM and arts programs the city will be funding. The meeting takes place in the Hydrangea Room.

4. Vote by Mail: Rockville Mayor and Council has a public hearing about a proposal for city citizens to vote by mail. Here’s the presentation about the proposal. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

5. Water Budget: The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission holds a budget meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Executive Office Building in Rockville. You can see the budget here.
