1. New Year’s Blood Drive: Representatives from the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at Casey Community Center in Gaithersburg from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Register online, here. Walk ins are accepted.
2. Student board member nominations: Any student enrolled in a Montgomery County public school in grades 6 through 12 may nominate a sophomore or junior to serve as next year’s Student Member of the Board of Education. Deadline for nominations is Jan. 25.

3. Christmas tree recycling: Does Montgomery County provide your recycling collection service? If so, place you natural Christmas tree at the curb by 7 a.m. on your recycle day.
4. National Penguin Awareness Month: Calling all preschoolers and their caregivers to a special story time at the Davis Library in Bethesda. The theme is penguins!
5. Find your calm: The Gaithersburg Library is hosting a Sahaja meditation class tonight for adults.
