Five Things to Know for May 16 in Montgomery County

Here are five things to know for Wednesday, May 16, in Montgomery County:

1. Property TaxesThe Montgomery County Council is expected to reach an agreement on property tax rates and credits for County homeowners during a work session meeting today at 9:30 a.m. The session will be available live via streaming through the Council web site at http://tinyurl.com/z9982v8

2. Coffee with Carrie: Join aquatics supervisor Carrie Headen for a cup of coffee and share ways you think Montgomery Recreation could improve aquatics in your community.  Wednesday’s meeting will take place at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center located at 18000 Central Park Circle in Boyds from 9 to 11 a.m.

3. Ride of Silence: The Rockville Bike Advisory Committee will hold its  annual Ride of Silence at 7 p.m.  The ride honors those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways.  Anyone interested in riding should meet in the plaza in front of the Rockville Public Library by 6:40 p.m. for the dedication and briefing.  Riders must have a helmet and lights and must be able to keep up with a 10 mph pace. 4. Aviation STEM Program: A new program implemented at Magruder High School allows students to get a head start on careers in aviation.

5. Free Yoga in Silver SpringGrace Studios will host free community yoga on the Downtown Silver Spring stage near the fountain from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Bring a mat and water bottle. In the event of inclement weather, please check its Facebook page for event updates.
