Five Things to Know for June 8 in Montgomery County

Here are five more things to know for Friday, June 8, in Montgomery County:

1. Education Award: Councilmember Craig Rice will be recognized with the Cornerstone Award for Education and Leadership at the Annual Black and White Scholarship Gala. Rice is the chair of the Education Committee and serves on the Health and Human Services Committee.

2. Commencements: Longview School, Germantown, will hold its graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. at the school. Poolesville High School will graduate the Class of 2018 at 10 a.m. at Mount St Mary’s University, Emmitsburg. Rock Terrace School, Rockville, hold its graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. at the school. Walt Whitman High School graduates the Class of 2018 at 2 p.m. at DAR Constitution Hall. Watkins Mill High School, Gaithersburg, will hold its graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. at DAR Constitution Hall.

3. Lunch with the Mayor: Takoma Park Mayor Kate Stewart invites residents to a monthly lunch featuring restaurants located in the Takoma Langley Crossroads area. Today’s lunch takes place at Sardi’s Pollo a la Brasa at noon.
