Here are five things to know for Tuesday, June 19, in Montgomery County:
1. Josiah Henson Leadership Conference: Montgomery Community Media and the Montgomery Parks Foundation host the Josiah Henson Leadership Conference. The conference addresses the local legacy, history and challenges facing Montgomery County’s African Americans and people of African ancestry. The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at MCM studios at 7548 Standish Place, Rockville.
2. Council Action: The Montgomery County Council will vote on a fiscal plan through fiscal 2024 at its meeting beginning at 9:30 a.m. Councilmember Craig Rice also introduces a bill that requires homes to have carbon monoxide alarms. See the agenda here.
3. Cooling Off: The Long Branch Outdoor Pool in Silver Spring has reopened after being closed for a couple of weeks for repairs. A perfect place to cool off.
