3. The House of Blue Leaves: A songwriter with visions of glory toils by day as a zookeeper and by night sings at piano bars in Queens, New York, where he lives with his wife. Meanwhile, downstairs lives his mistress. At the Silver Spring Stage, 10145 Colesville Road, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets $22 and up.

4. Checkmate: Montgomery Recreation is planning chess camps this summer.

5. Pitch Perfect: A movie just for teens.
