Five Things to Know For Jan. 17 in Montgomery County

Here’s five things to know today, Wednesday, Jan. 17, in Montgomery County:

1. Slippery Roads: The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for our area until to 11 a.m. The Service said the heaviest will come right about 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., for the morning commute.

2. Wheaton High School: Wheaton High School’s Science Bowl team has advanced to the national competition.

3. Council Retreat: An update on building security and appointments for 2018 are on the agenda for Montgomery County Council’s scheduled retreat this morning.  The meeting is expected to take place at the Rockville Library.  Here’s the agenda. 

4. Speaking of the Council: Montgomery County Council’s Education Committee and Planning, Housing, and Economic Development (PHED) Committee are meeting simultaneously to discuss County Executive Isiah Leggett’s 2018 Fiscal Year Savings Plan.

5. Summer Camp Registration: 

And one last thing: Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett presented his Fiscal Year 2019 Recommended Capital Budget.
