Here are five things to know for Friday, Dec. 8, in Montgomery County:

1. Volunteers Needed: Health and Human Services needs volunteers to work with victims of sexual assault through the Victim Assistance and Sexual Assault Program (VASAP). Call VASAP at 240.777.1355 or visit montgomerycoutymd.gov/vasap for more information.

2. Germantown Indoor Swim Center Closed: The swim center is closed all weekend for the Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club meet.

3. Winter Woods Weekend: Brookside Nature Center will have games, crafts, puppet shows, hikes and more Saturday and Sunday. Find the schedule of events for Saturday, here; and for Sunday, here.

4. MCM Day at The Nutcracker: MCM’s Communications and Development Director, Tony Spearman-Leach is the guest celebrity Mother Ginger this Saturday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m at Metropolitan Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker. Use code ‘MCMatMBT’ when purchasing tickets and MBT will donate 15 percent of the ticket sales to MCM. Come out and support your community media center.
