Here are five things to know for Thursday, Dec. 7, in Montgomery County:
1. Grand Opening: The Chick-fil-A at Olney opens today. The new fast food restaurant specializing in chicken sandwiches is located at 18115 Georgia Avenue, just north of the intersection with Maryland Route 108.
2. Planning Meeting: The Planning Board meets today and will be briefed on the Bicycle Master Plan Working Draft, among other items at this meeting. The meeting agenda may be found, here.
3. Bethesda Blast: Weather permitting, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation will conduct single controlled blasts beneath Rockville Pike (MD 355) near the Medical Center Metro Station, NIH, and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Naval Support Activity Bethesda between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
4. Third Annual Spectacular Kids Night: The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), in partnership with Autism Speaks, Pathfinders for Autism, and the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, holds the third annual Spectacular Kids Night at Cicis on Rockville Pike. The goal of the event is to support families who care for loved ones with Autism and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
5. Board of Education Meeting: The Montgomery County Board of Education meets with student groups tonight at the Carver Education Services Center in the auditorium at 7 p.m.
