Five Things to Know for Aug. 20 in Montgomery County

Here are five things you need to know for Monday, Aug. 20, in Montgomery County:

1. First Lady visits Rockville Summit: First Lady Melania Trump is scheduled to present remarks at the Federal Partners in Bullying Prevention Cyberbullying Prevention Summit in Rockville today.

2. Municipal Monday: The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. One of the items on the agenda is a public hearing on approval of the development plan for a city park at 601 Orchard Ridge Drive, known as Discovery Park.

3. Veteran Center Intake & Referral Services: Veterans and active duty Service members may register for Veteran Center services at the Germantown Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

4. Blood Drive: The Red Cross is scheduled to hold a blood drive at the Gaithersburg Library from 2:30 to 7 p.m. Register with the Red Cross by calling 1-800-Red Cross. Walk-ins are welcome.

5. Lighten Your Load: Swap out incandescent bulbs or compact fluorescent lights for up to three money-saving LED lights. The event takes place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Olney Safeway at 3333 Spartan Road.
