Five Things to Know for Aug. 16 in Montgomery County

Here are five things you need to know for Thursday, Aug. 16, in Montgomery County:

1. Military Day at the Fair: Montgomery County Agricultural Fair is offering free admission for active military in uniform or with a valid military id. The Monster Trucks are back today with rides from noon to 5 p.m. and a show at 7:30 p.m.

2. Child car seat safety check:  Stop by the Fitzgerald Auto Mall at 5501 Nicholson Lane from 10 a.m. to noon to have a child car seat inspected. Certified safety technicians will be available to make sure the seat is age appropriate for the child and installed correctly. No appointment is required.

3. Easterseals open house:

4. Stuffed animals needed: The Montgomery County’s Family Justice Center needs donations of stuffed animals as reported by Bethesda Beat.

5. Music is in the air:  Steel drummer Wentworth Richardson performs Caribbean melodies as the Silver Spring Lunchtime Lounge series continue from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on the Fountain Plaza Stage, 916 Ellsworth Drive, Silver Spring. Justin Trawick and The Common Good perform in the Bumper Car Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. The concert is held rain or shine.
