1. EPIC Awards: Staff here at Montgomery Community Media are hosting the second annual EPIC Awards, given for “Excellence in Programming and Innovative Content.” This elegant affair will be held at The Fillmore in Silver Spring.  Join us on our Facebook and Twitter feeds for live updates!

2. SMOB Election: It’s election day for students in Montgomery County Public Schools who will vote for the 41st Student Member of the Board of Education (SMOB).

Proposed Property Tax Increase: Takoma Park’s City Council will hold two public hearings  today.  The first is on the proposed real property tax rate increase for FY 2019 and the second is on the city’s proposed FY 2019 budget. The meeting will take place in Community Center Auditorium located at 7500 Maple Avenue in Tacoma Park.

5. Golden Temple: The Washington D.C. Temple is currently closed for major renovations for the next two-years. At the end of the project, the community will only have approximately 30 days to take a look inside before the temple is rededicated for members.
