First MoCo & D.C. Joint Transportation Meeting

beltway-traffic-slide-2r-450X250Members of the Councils of Montgomery County and Washington, D.C., will co-host the first ever joint meeting of their respective Transportation and Environment Committees at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at the Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments offices in Northeast Washington. The committees will meet to enhance coordination on key issues that impact both of the neighboring jurisdictions.

The Council of Governments is located at 777 North Capitol Street NE, Suite 300, Washington, D.C., 20002.

At the meeting, which will be co-chaired by Montgomery Councilmember Roger Berliner and D.C. Councilmember Mary Cheh, the committees will have in-depth discussions on improving regional coordination on an array of transit issues. Among the issues scheduled for the agenda are:

  • Extending Bus Rapid Transit routes from Montgomery County into the District.
  • Extending the future D.C. Streetcar line north up Georgia Avenue into Silver Spring.
  • Extending existing Metrobus routes so more run through both jurisdictions.

The meeting will be recorded by County Cable Montgomery (CCM—Cable Channel 6 on Comcast and RCN, Channel 30 on Verizon) and broadcast on the Montgomery cable system on dates to be determined.
