Original post: About 75 Montgomery County firefighters battled a house fire in Rockville on Thursday night that left one person missing or unaccounted, according to a Montgomery County fire official.

Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said the fire was reported at 16100 Willow Lane at 10:15 p.m. March 2.

According to Piringer, firefighters arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames. Piringer said it took firefighters 15 to 20 minutes to knock down the bulk of the fire. He said some brush fires did ignite and were quickly extinguished.

The house is a complete loss, Piringer said.

Neighbors reported to firefighters they believed the homeowner was at home when the fire started. The homeowner is unaccounted for at this time, Piringer said.

There were some road closures because of the fire department’s activity. According to Piringer, firefighters remained on the scene overnight.
