Fire Destroys Kensington Playground (PHOTOS)

Someone set fire to a playground in Kensington Monday night and fire officials are searching for the person responsible.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer tweeted Monday night about 11 p.m. that a playground in the 3500 block of Plyers Mills Road in Kensington was on fire. Tuesday, he said via Twitter that officials are looking for information about who set it.

According to MontgomeryParks.org, the St. Paul playground is “a main recreational feature of Kensington Heights Park.”

Piringer told MyMCMedia he believes the estimated loss of the playground is about $50,000. He said neighbors indicated there was some activity in the park Monday night that might be related to the fire, but he didn’t have details about what neighbors saw or heard.
