Fine Tuning Music in Montgomery Village (PHOTOS & VIDEO)
For the fifth time, the Montgomery Philharmonic and local Montgomery County Public School students in the Watkins Mill cluster are making beautiful music together.
Watkins Mill High School hosted a benefit concert Monday night to raise funds for the instrumental music program. And they are getting help with fundraising and fine tuning their skills thanks to the volunteer members of the Montgomery Philharmonic.
Sandra Ragusa, musical director of Montgomery Philharmonic, said the group volunteers its time to help students learn their instruments and get the chance to play with a full orchestra. She conducted at the concert Monday night.
Three middle school-age students- Raymond Schleien, Khalel Robinson and Daniel Coile- got a special honor of performing solos with the Montgomery Philharmonic as well as earning the Bernie Rappaport Young Musicians Concert Competition $250 scholarship.
