Fatal Motorcycle Accident Closes Roadway

According to police, the driver of the motorcycle, Adam Stephan Trusilo, age 39, of Germantown, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The motorcycle passenger, Rabaya Akhter, age 29, of Rockville, was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police say both Trusilo, and Akhter, were wearing motorcycle helmets.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police-Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and Toyota Highlander that occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on Sept. 16 at Montrose Road and Tower Oaks Boulevard.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that a 2006 Toyota Highlander was traveling east on Montrose Road and attempted to make a left turn onto northbound Tower Oaks Boulevard. As the Highlander was turning, police said it collided with a Ducati 848 motorcycle that was traveling west on Montrose Road. The motorcycle operator and passenger were ejected from the motorcycle and the motorcycle caught on fire, police said.

According to police, the driver of the motorcycle, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have identified the driver as Adam Stephan Trusilo, 39, of Bronco Place in Germantown. Police have identified the motorcycle passenger as Rabaya Akhter, age 29, of Congressional Lane in Rockville. Akhter, police said, was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Trusilo and Akhter were both wearing motorcycle helmets. Police have identified the driver of the Toyota Highlander as Peggy Lee, age 52, of Old Club Road in Rockville. Lee was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During their on-site investigation, police closed westbound Montrose Road and northbound Tower Oaks Boulevard for several hours. The roads reopened shortly before 1 p.m.

The circumstances of this collision remain under investigation. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
