Fatal Motorcycle Collision on Brink Road in Germantown

UPDATED Aug. 25 at 6 a.m. Montgomery County ‪Police‬ are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and an overturned vehicle that occurred at on Sunday evening on Brink Road in ‪‎Germantown‬.

‪‎Police said the accident occurred at approximately 6:23 p.m. in the 11000 block of Brink Road near Ireva Court. According to a police account, arriving officers reported a silver Infiniti QX4 overturned and a black 1996 Harley Davidson Road King off the road.

The 52-year-old male motorcyclist was found in the wooded area adjacent to the roadway, police said. Police said he was deceased. Fire and rescue units transported the driver of the Infiniti to Suburban Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the Infiniti was traveling eastbound on Brink Road.

For reasons still under investigation, police said the Infiniti crossed the double yellow lane markings, traveled into the westbound lanes, and struck the Harley Davidson, which was traveling westbound on Brink Road.

The driver of the 1996 Harley Davidson Road King has been identified by police as 52-year-old Kevin Roger Kanke of Montgomery Village. The driver of the Infiniti QX4 has been identified by police as 34-year-old Juan Salvador Morales Duarte of Clopper Road in Gaithersburg.

The circumstances of this collision remain under investigation. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
