Police Investigate Fatal Car Accident

Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal, single-vehicle collision that occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on June 19.

According to police, 4th District officers responded to the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Turkey Branch Parkway for the report of a single-vehicle collision. Police said the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Veirs Mill Road. Near the intersection of Turkey Branch Parkway, the Accord left the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to police. The driver was transported to a local hospital, police said, where he died from his injuries.

Police have identified the driver as Roy V. Tjongarero, age 29, of Baileys Lane in Silver Spring. Police said he was the only occupant in the vehicle.
