Fans Dug Deep to Help Local Volleyball Teams Raise Money for Breast Cancer Awareness (PHOTOS)

Quince Orchard and Seneca Valley high school volleyball teams may have spiked, killed and set against one another Wednesday night, but they worked together throughout the night to raise more than $2,000 for the battle against breast cancer.

It’s called Dig Pink! and it’s a fundraising event for breast cancer through the Side-Out Foundation. The term side-out refers to a situation in volleyball when one team wins a point while its opponent is serving, thereby regaining serve or control of play – analogous to the efforts of the Side-Out Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to making a significant and identifiable difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families by supporting clinical trials, increasing compassionate support services and educating communities More than 500 college volleyball teams and 1,500 high school and middle school volleyball teams participate in this campaign.

Teams across the county are hosting a special Dig Pink game where players wear pink uniforms, and there are special events and programming for fans. It’s all to raise money to promote Breast Cancer Awareness this month.
