Families Seeking Help in Aftermath of Silver Spring Explosion (VIDEO)
The bent metal doors and burned out homes are a stark reminder of how fortunate many families were to make it out of the Flower Branch Apartments. The struggle now for many residents is replacing all they lost in the Silver Spring explosion on August 10. County and state officials met with displaced families but MyMCMedia’s Phyllis Armstrong reports the homeless are not the only ones needing assistance.
Local and federal investigators expect to have more answers to questions about the Silver Spring explosion by the end of this week. They are also continuing their efforts to identity the seven bodies recovered from the rubble of the apartment buildings.
Casa de Maryland has distributed donated items to about 30 families. They are asking for more volunteers. Visit the Montgomery County government website for more information about assisting the displaced families.
