Faith Groups to Host Security Training Workshop

Montgomery County Executive’s Faith Community Working Group is inviting the community to attend a free two-hour security training session where experts will explain how to protect congregations from unexpected acts of violence or disasters, and how to conduct facility assessments.

Training workshop Faith Groups When Disaster Hits Home: Are We Prepare? is scheduled to take place on Dec. 2 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Adat Shalom on 7727 Persimmon Tree Lane in Bethesda.

Speakers Brian D Johnson, director of campus security at the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, and Marlowe Leafty, emergency preparedness specialist for Seneca Maryland Stake of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, will share information about family and staff preparedness.

The event, also sponsored by the Jewish Community Relation Council, is open to the public but registration is required.
