Fairfax Police Believe Body Is Missing Gaithersburg Teen

Fairfax County police detectives said Monday they believe human remains discovered in North Springfield is the body of a 15-year-old Gaithersburg girl who has been missing for more than two months.

The girl, Damaris A. Reyes Rivas, was reported missing on Dec. 10. Detectives are following leads and the investigation remains active, a Fairfax County police statement said. The remains were found in the 7100 block of Wimsatt Road on Saturday. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Virginia ruled the death as a homicide. The victim suffered trauma to the upper body, the statement said.
