Exhibit at Arts Barn Gallery (Photos)

The Arts Barn Gallery presents an exhibit featuring the works of The Pâté Painters and resident artist Tony Glander now through March 23. The public is invited to a free Artists’ Reception Feb 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The gallery is located at 311 Kent Square Road in Gaithersburg, with viewing hours Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to a free Artists’ Reception Feb 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The appropriately named Pâté Painters celebrate life and friendship by enjoying fine foods and wines each time they gather to paint. Besides their love of painting, they share a common artistic bond, with mutual respect for one another’s artistic ability and admiration for each other’s works. Each member brings a unique perspective on life as represented in their art. Paintings depict places, people and scenes that are meaningful to the artist and pleasing to the viewer. Members all began their artistic endeavors in the medium of transparent watercolor, yet during their artistic journey they have come across other mediums in which they choose to experiment and develop their talents. They add other mediums to their watercolors or have switched mediums all together. In this exhibition, visitors will find works of watercolor, gouache, acrylic, pastel, pencil, oil, tinted papers, and even fabric. The works of The Pâté Painters can be found in public and private collections and galleries throughout the United States and Europe. All of the artists are also members of the Montgomery Art Association.

Tony Glander has been a resident artist at the Arts Barn since its inception, with a studio that serves as a wonderful enclave for lovers of the medium of glass. Glander started working in stained glass in 1989 and is nationally recognized for his work. It didn’t take long for him to become totally hooked on making beautiful art works in colored glass. In 1990, he purchased a stained glass studio, Glass Fantasies in Olde Towne Gaithersburg, which has become Fitzpatrick Glass Studios. In 2002, he moved into the Arts Barn to focus on custom work and classes. “I love every technique from cold glass to hot glass, from leading to slumping,” says Glander. For this exhibit, Glander will be sharing some of the special glass bowls he has been creating in celebration of his 25th studio anniversary. Glander offers classes and workshops at the Arts Barn, and he also travels around the country teaching glass art workshops in places like Houston and Las Vegas.
