Everything Clicking Up North

Syracuse is one of the best college lacrosse programs in the history of the game. This year they are definitely living up to that title.su

Syracuse has won both of their first two games of the season in historic fashion. In their first game against Sienna, the Orange came out hot and never looked back in a 21-7 win. In the second game against upstate rival, Cornell, the Orange played lights out defense in a 14-6 win. The defense for Syracuse has been absolutely outstanding. Bobby Wardwell has been amazing between the pipes with a .600 save percentage and 15 saves.

Wardwell hasn’t faced many good shots because of the physical presence that his close defenders have on attackmen. Former Texas all-state football player Brandon Mullins has been putting defenders in the turf every chance he gets. The offense is also firing at a high level. The best attack group in the nation is back and better than ever. Crease man, Dylan Donahue has already registered six goals and three assists. X man, Kevin Rice has put up 4 goals and five assist. The Onondaga Community College transfer, Randy Staats has four goals and three assists.

The midfield position is catching fire too. Led by Nicky Galasso and Hakeem Lecky, the midfield position is giving short stick defensive midfielders a very tough time. Galasso has seven points already and Lecky has eight and more assists than he had all of last season. The combo of offense, defense and great coaching is giving opposing teams fits.

Syracuse’s next game will be a home game against the Army Black Knights. Army is coming off a big win against Jacksonville and appears to be all fired up to go to the Carrier Dome and take on ‘Cuse.
