Updated: According to the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management, both directions of River Road at Maidens Bower Drive are closed. This may continue through the Friday afternoon commute.
Original Post: The eastbound lane of River Road in Potomac is closed between Maidens Bower Drive and Esworthy Road. Emergency roadwork is underway, but county officials are expecting the closure to continue through the Thursday evening commute.
Officials are advising drivers to seek an alternative route.
