Elections Board Completes Draft of Sample Ballots

Montgomery County Democrats will see all 31 County Council at-large candidates on one side of their primary election ballot, according to sample ballots available at the county’s Board of Elections offices.

Most have the at-large candidates on the front of the ballot. In some, the number of candidates in other races has pushed the at-large candidates to the back of the ballot.

For optical scanning machines, the board has created 42 Democratic ballots, 31 Republican ballots and three nonpartisan ballots. The board still has to design other ballots. The parties don’t have an equal number of ballots, an election official said, because some races have no Republican candidates.

The ballots are to be published next week on the State Board of Elections website, and once published, they will be certified, said Donna Duncan, the board’s assistant deputy administrator.
