UPDATED: Arrest Made in Elderly Man’s Death In Colesville

UPDATED, Feb. 25. 9 a.m. – A 60-year-old man is charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 95-year-old Colesville man.

Eric S. Dyson, 60, of 531 Randolph Road is under arrest for the homicide of  Dan Belvin, a 95-year-old retired Naval officer. Dyson’s address on court documents appear to show he also lives in the same senior community as Belvin.  No additional details were immediately available.

Dyson, 60, faces a charge of first-degree murder as well as credit card theft charges, according to an online search of the District Court for Montgomery County Criminal System.

According to police he was arrested sometime yesterday or early this morning.

Police were called to 531 Randolph Road which is a senior retirement community called Randolph Village on Feb. 23 at about 12:30 p.m. after a concerned friend related that they had not heard from Dan Belvin, who lived there.. The building property manager checked the apartment, found the resident deceased inside his home, and called 9-1-1, according to a press release.

Police said he was found with trauma to the upper body.

UPDATED – Montgomery County Police are investigating the death of a 95-year-old man in his Colesville apartment as a suspected homicide.

 

Police were called to the scene Feb. 23 at about 12:30 p.m. after a concerned friend related that they had not heard from the victim. The building property manager checked the apartment, found the resident deceased, and called 9-1-1, according to a press release.

The man has now been identified as Dan Belvin, a retired Naval officer.  Police said he was found with trauma to the upper body.The cause of death is being determined by the Office of the Medical Examiner, police said.
