Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day (Photo)

As households start turning their attention to preparing annual tax returns, the Montgomery County Council on Feb. 25 sought to bring attention to a credit available to certain low-income families by declaring Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day.

Montgomery County is one of only three local jurisdictions in the U.S. to provide a local supplement to the federal EITC. However, 20 percent of eligible workers do not claim the EITC.
