Drug Take-Back Day Nets 530 Pounds of Unwanted Prescription Drugs
On May 2, the Montgomery County Police Department, the Chevy Chase Village Police Department, the Gaithersburg Police Department, and the Takoma Park Police Department conducted a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day at multiple locations and netted hundreds of pounds of unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs.
Law enforcement agencies participating in the event collected approximately 530 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs.
Unused prescription medications in homes create a public health and safety concern, because they can be accidentally ingested, stolen, misused, and abused.
There’s another Drug Take-Back Day scheduled for May 30 this time from 10 a.m – 2 p.m. at the Rockville City Police Department in Rockville.
