Down 16, Churchill Girls Fight Back But Lose to B-CC in Overtime
The Churchill girls’ basketball has consistently been the best team in Montgomery County all season. The 10th ranked girls (22-2) were expected to beat B-CC in the section final and advance to the West Region final but the Barons had other plans.
B-CC dominated on Churchill’s home floor for most of the game leading by as many as 16. B-CC led by 13 points with four minutes to go but the Bulldogs clawed back with stellar 3-point shooting and a stifling press. The game went to overtime. B-CC had a one-point lead with just seconds remaining. Churchill had the ball with a chance to win it but Brittini’s Martin’s shot at the buzzer rolled off the rim. B-CC held on for the upset win, 58-57.
Churchill’s sensational season ends abruptly and B-CC moves on to play Clarksburg in the 4A West Region final on Saturday at 3 pm at Richard Montgomery High School.

We're all so very proud of our @WCHSgirlsBB team. This was a heartbreaking loss but our girls battled back from being down by as much as 16 in the 2nd half. There was so much heart shown by these ladies, they left it all on the floor! Next year will be their year!
