Doug Duncan Endorses Kathleen Matthews for Congress
Former Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan is endorsing Kathleen Matthews in the race to succeed Chris Van Hollen in Maryland’s 8th Congressional District.
At an event this week with voters at the VisArts studio in Rockville Town Square, Montgomery County’s former County Executive said he was proud to support Matthews, a community leader who would be the first Democratic woman to represent this district.
“Kathleen has the right attitude, the right vision, and the right personality to be a great Congresswoman for the people of the 8th District,” said Duncan. “I have worked with several of our Congressional representatives over the years, and Kathleen will carry on the legacy of hard work, determination, and constituent services that they have provided this district for so many years.”
“I am grateful and honored by Doug Duncan’s endorsement,” said Matthews. “He has been a tireless public servant for Montgomery County and Maryland, and a good friend since we met in 1994 when he became County Executive and I was a local TV reporter covering Montgomery County. We’ve worked together over 20 years to support new immigrants, working families, and people with disabilities through Catholic Charities and other non-profits, and we share a vision for social justice and growing our economy through investment and innovation.”
The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26.
