Doc in Progress Moving to New Location

Silver Spring nonprofit organization Docs in Progress will be moving to a new location in the new year.

The organization released the following statement about their decision to move:

“As downtown Silver Spring, Maryland has blossomed in tandem with our growth of our nonprofit organization, we knew there would only be so much time before commercially zone houses like ours would have to make way for new development. While we have loved hosting classes, talks, parties, fellowship meetings, and home-way-from-home for several thousand filmmakers who have joined us in what has come to be known affectionately as ‘The Doc House,” it is time we open a new chapter.”

The new office will be located at 801 Wayne Avenue, Suite G-100 in Silver Spring. It is an office building close to Veterans Plaza.

Docs in Progress is asking the public’s help to fund moving expenses and rent at the current location. “Because a move was unanticipated and sudden, we are now looking at an additional unanticipated $15,000 in expenses as we round out the year,” the organization wrote on its Crowdrise page. The funds raise will help the nonprofit to moving expenses, additional rent so the organization can stay in the Doc House through the end of 2016, and staff time spent on the move.
